Welcome to another Monday! Here at Simply Jubilee events, we hope you start off your week on a good note, and what better way to do it than to talk about dessert. Today’s blog is meant to inspire as well as advise you of one of our favorite vendors. We must say that after having worked with “Who Made the Cake?”, located on 1811 South Shepherd Drive , for some of our memorable weddings, their cakes are created with care and detail in order to satisfy the couple and their guests. “Who Made the Cake?” can also provide miniature cakes and a variety of other pastries for your event. Encourage yourself to explore your options and add a little creativity when it comes to your wedding cake! You’ll be sure to have everyone at your wedding asking you, “Who Made the Cake?”

The wedding cake plays a very important role in the reception, but its meaning in today’ wedding is somewhat different than in the past. For instance, the Romans used to break the cake over a bride’s head to symbolize fertility. During the medieval ages, guests brought scones and biscuits and piled them on top of each other. The bride and groom would then kiss over it in order to bring their marriage good luck. In the Seventeenth Century, the French began to stack wheat buns and coat them in icing, which is the origin of the wedding cake as we now know it. Not that long ago it was an acceptable standard to have a white tiered wedding cake; however now cakes are an expression of each individual couple. What does the wedding cake symbolize to you in 2010?

I have officially fallen in love with mini wedding cakes. They made a huge splash in 2009, and I don’t see them going anywhere for 2010. Mini wedding cakes are great for that indecisive bride. You no longer have to pick which wedding cake design; you can choose them all! They are also money savers and in this economy every penny counts. You can eliminate the cake cutting fee and serving cost when you use mini wedding cakes. I have also seen brides use them as center pieces at their wedding. It’s a fun, edible way to decorate. Just incase you need one more reason to love them; they can also be wedding favors. Have your wedding cake designed into mini cakes and let guests take them home.

Filmmaking does more than just give movie lovers the opportunity to crowd around a television set with friends and delicious junk food. “Because I Said So,” (2007) enhanced the polka-dot trend through its’ continuous utilization in fashionable dresses worn by the actresses to the often duplicated wedding cake in Daphne’s traditional wedding with a modern twist. The cake, created by Cake Divas, was featured in the customary colors of black and white. If you’re feeling a bit adventurous, you could add a brighter tone to accompany the traditional color scheme. Aside from being comical, the film proved to inspire upcoming brides.
