Catering Advice for your Reception

Welcome to another Friday SJE bloggers! We hope you are all hungry, as we prepare to write about some of the tastiest ways you can improve your wedding reception by paying particular attention to the food you serve.  By considering some of these items, you are sure to be well on your way to plan out what will be served on your special day.

  • First, consider your budget.  Does your budget allow for a pricier seated dinner as opposed to a more affordable buffet?
  • How many guests will be attending? If it is a large number, it may be in your best interest to have a buffet as opposed to a seated dinner, as these may take more time depending on the number of courses you’ll have. In the case that you preferred your guests being served, as opposed to them serving themselves, you could also have a “family style” dinner where your guests can serve themselves at their own tables, and not have to wait in a long line.
  • Work with your caterer to see how you are able to customize any existing preset menus to tailor to your preferences.
  • Be creative with your menu and include some unique items, if you wish. Be sure to also include traditional items that are familiar to your guests.
  • Lastly, you’ll want to consider your options for everyone’s favorite- dessert. Aside from a cake, if you are a bride looking for something different, you can serve cupcakes or another tasty treat at your wedding.
