My guest list is bigger than my budget

Most brides sit down at some point during their wedding planning and realize that between their guest list and their fiancé’s guest list, they have 200 people on their invitation list and a budget that can only accommodate 100 guests. There are a couple of ways you can fix this problem. First, sit down with your fiancé and make two lists. One list should consist of your “must have” guests, including close family and friends. The second one should include your casual friends such as co- workers, second cousins, and distant friends of the family. You can then review the second list and decide who really needs to be invited. Another great method is the “12 month rule.”  If you have not spoken to or seen a potential guest in at least 12 months, then chances are they will not really question why their invitation did not come in the mail.  For this method you can incorporate any time period you feel is appropriate. Just remember at the end of the day this is your wedding and your budget. Most people will understand that you have many tough decisions to make when it comes to your guest list.
